After arriving first for the BlackBerry Q10, it seems that the preview version of Skype has finally been rolled out to the BlackBerry Z10 today, making the lives of Z10 Skype users just a little bit easier.
Rather disappointingly, there really doesn’t seem to be any difference compared to the leaked .BAR file that some Z10 users sideloaded a couple weeks ago. The version number is the same and there is still no separate Hub pane for Skype. Skype notifications are still displayed as a generic “Notification” symbol on the lock screen as well. There is one difference however: you must be running OS 10.1 to download it. The sideloaded version, on the other hand, seemed to work with pre-10.1 devices. Nevertheless, it’s certainly a good sign of progress with Skype, and saves users some time and effort since you no longer have to sideload it. You’ll also be notified of any updates as soon as they become available. So, even if you have it sideloaded, we recommend you head on over to BlackBerry World here to download it. Just make sure to delete the sideloaded version first if you currently have it.
