So are you the type of person who uses the default theme for your BlackBerry’s OS and never changes the wallpaper? That is definitely NOT me! I have discovered a free theme for OS5 & 6 that is out of the ordinary and makes the most of your screen real estate. It’s titled FRAMED and the creator is Al3azim of Crackberry.com fame.
FRAMED incorporates a 5-color changing frame around your screen while displaying your entire wallpaper and allowing access to a number of shortcuts and apps. It also features a user-customizable 6 icon dock and has an OCD (Weather for most of us) slot within the frame. Here are a few shots of the various color frames:
The frame can be changed to 5 different colors: solid black, red, blue and a black to gray gradient with the gradient being displayed on either the top or the bottom of the frame. The shortcuts along the frame are what you see in the screen shot with the exception of one: because I used my own device for the shots and I am running a custom version of the theme, the last shortcut should be TODAY for everyone. Since I don’t use a Today screen, I commissioned a BBM shortcut there instead. Pretty smart, no? The frame colors change with Alt (, Alt ), Alt-, Alt ! , and Alt ?
Talk about spicing up your home screen! The amazing thing is your BB is still extremely efficient as you have shortcuts to everything you need on the home screen; the clock, profiles icon, the battery, the signal meter and date all lead to various options. And don’t forget the OCD slot right there, front and center for your most needed app. If you click on Apps, you will display a 6 icon dock the hides just as easily. Why leave your home screen to work? It’s all there!
FRAMED is a FREE BlackBerry theme, available for both OS5 and OS6. The creator, Al3azim has once again made a very smooth and functional theme. It has become one of my favorites because of all the different looks my berry can have.
