Captivated by BlackberryThemePark will grab your attention and keep it right on your BB

I’ve been waiting for this theme to come out.  Ever since I saw the Captivate BW set that B.A Hamilton from CB made for this theme, I was intrigued.  The BW itself is gorgeous and I was anxious to see the theme that went with it.  Well I wasn’t disappointed.   Captivated is just that.  Captivating.   It certainly grabbed my attention.   With 3 distinctive views to choose from, there is a lot to tell you about this theme, so read on and find out how it works.

Default home screen

This is the default home screen you will see when you first load the theme.   The 6 icon dock has transparent boxes around it with a blue focus icon.  These are the first 6 apps from you application screen.   See the icons?  You know I like different icons, and I love these.  They are different and I enjoy using them.  The time and notifications are on the top banner, which can be darkened or lightened, depending on your wall paper (alt ?/ alt !).  This feature is right up my alley because it helps with different kinds of wall paper.  BlackberryThemePark calls this the Business view, as it it simple, clean and you have access to your 6 most used and favorite applications.

This theme also features a unique today screen.  To access this, go to the first icon on the dock and scroll up to the top banner which will highlight..click and today appears with yet another 6 icon dock (apps 7-12), another notification area, a bar for your weather and a calendar today!  Got your interest now?  I bet.  It IS captivating.  The date which is not shown on the other views, is displayed on the the top left of the banner in the today view.  There is a lot of information here on this screen and everything you need is right there with easy access.  What more could you want?  Maybe  the weather forecast?

I mentioned that there was a BerryWeather (app sold separately)  set that was made just for this theme.   Here it is.  It’s called Captivate, and looks awesome with the wall paper I have chosen.   To set the forecast to show this way on the today screen, there are some steps you need to follow in order for it to work.

1) Enable BW home screen wall paper.

2)Turn current conditions off and select forecast

3)Set top margin to 230px

4)Choose the image you want from here and save

5)Go to display settings and set forecast size to x-small.

6)Create a folder in the root directory of your media card and name it captivated (all lower case)

7)Copy your image into this folder and rename it panelwall.png

8)Deactivate theme by choosing another theme and reactivate Captivated again.

9)The today screen will now have your forecast showing under the calendar view.

You will have to do this each time you want to change wall paper, if you want the forecast to show on the today screen.  If you don’t, which is your choice, delete the captivated folder in your media card and change wall paper as usual.   It does seem like a lot of work, and to some it may be.  It took me less than 5 minutes to set up.  And I like the way it looks.  This today area has everything you will need.   But of course you don’t have to use this feature.  The theme is still great and looks awesome either way.

Application screen

The application screen is on a black grid like background with those awesome icons I was telling you about.  The same focus square is used here as the home screen.  The highlight bar is a nice shade of grey that though a little light, still shows up very nicely. I get tired of the default blue and I’m glad developers are changing it up.   These icons pop on the screen and are easy to tell what is what.

This is the Wall paper lover view.  The dock is hidden by alt Q (and show by alt A), to give you a clean look and complete wall paper view.  Again remember to use the dark/light banner option depending on your wall paper.   There is no weather slot, so I have used the BW wall paper feature to show my weather.   A very adaptable theme that you can set whichever way you want it.
