Since the rollout of BBM on iOS and Android, BlackBerry has been looking to monetize BBM in a lot of ways possible. Some we’ve seen, some we’ll never see or hear about. However, we have heard that one possible method of monetization would be to introduce a Skype like VoIP service, says David Proulx, Senior Director of BBM Business Development.

In an interview with Emirates 24/7, David Proulx, Senior Director of BBM Business Development let it be known that BlackBerry is still looking to monetize BBM, as well as successfully launching BBM Channels and their first official cross platform monetization effort: BBM Stickers.

There wasn’t much said that we already didn’t know. He also reassured the fact that that BBM Voice would always be free. However, David Proulx did mention that one of the methods to monetize BBM is using a Skype like VoIP. According to him, their idea is for a BBM user to be able to reach as many people as they can through BBM.

With BBM available for BlackBerry, iOS, Android and now coming to Windows Phone later this year, having a Skype like VoIP service would be pretty sweet, along to go with a Desktop BBM, BBM would definitely truly be cross platform.
