BARCELONA, SPAIN and WATERLOO, CANADA – BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB) announced today that Unipresalud has upgraded to BlackBerry®’s Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution – BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10 (BES 10) – to meet its stringent data protection needs for mobile communications.

Unipresalud is a Spain-based consultancy specialized in risk prevention and in the improvement of workplace health and safety. The company, which has accreditation by Spain’s National Labor Authority (Dirección General de Trabajo) to provide external occupational risk prevention services, has an 850-strong team of professional staff, and more than 120 service centres and 22 mobile units. To support a highly mobile workforce, Unipresalud needed a solution that could meet its primary goal: providing best in class security management for the storage and exchange of corporate information. Unipresalud has deployed BES 10 to meet this mobility requirement and is one of the first major companies in Spain to adopt Blackberry’s new EMM solution.

As its main activity relates to occupational health, Unipresalud regularly manages sensitive data protected by Spain’s stringent Organic Law on Data Protection (LOPD). The service guarantee offered by the company requires a robust mobility strategy to ensure the secure and confidential handling of medical information of corporate client employees, as well as the reliable management of its business processes. Unipresalud has deployed BlackBerry® 10 smartphones to regional managers, making it easier for them to communicate with each other through a secure mobile platform. Unipresalud is evaluating the usage and roll-out of BES 10’s Secure Work Space in its AndroidTMdevices. Secure Work Space supports both personal and work use by creating a separate, secure and clearly differentiated work environment on the smartphone. It leverages the same trusted behind-the-firewall connection available for BlackBerry smartphones and extends BlackBerry security capabilities for data-at-rest and data-in-transit to Android and iOS devices.

“We have been using the BlackBerry solution for many years and we will continue to trust BlackBerry as our EMM provider. BES 10 is the best mobility platform for us in terms of integration, security, connectivity and price,” said Xavier Albarracín Jiménez, CIO of Unipresalud. “Every day, our employees need to share and access confidential information so it’s critical that we have the most secure mobile environment. With BES 10, we are assured that the confidentiality of our information is maintained, while also ensuring that Unipresalud employees can enjoy the best user experience, for both personal and professional use.”

“Customers recognize the added value that BES 10 brings in fulfilling their mobility needs with its industry-leading security, usability and cost efficiency. For Unipresalud, the combination of BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BES 10 gives them the ideal combination of a flexible mobile management solution that meets both corporate and end user requirements,” said Antonio Reyes, Managing Director for Spain at BlackBerry.

To date, customers have installed nearly 33,000 BES 10 commercial and test servers around the world. Organizations continue to choose BlackBerry due to its reputation as the most trustworthy, cross-platform enterprise mobility management solution.
