Review: Power Jacket For BlackBerry Q10 – 2800mAh From Brando Workshop

All of you that read the BlackBerry Empire blog often may have seen a few of the reviews that I have shared on BlackBerry Z10 accessories. You may have also noticed that I haven’t really reviewed many Q10 accessories as of yet. I think part of the reason why is because the Q10 just feels so solid in my hand that I haven’t felt the need to put a case on it. Well today I want to give you a quick review on a new item that I just received from Brando Workshop called a 2800 mAh Power Jacket for the BlackBerry Q10.

As with all the items I have received from Brando Workshop the packaging (a hard plastic case) that the Power Jacket came in provides ultimate protection during shipping. This is so important to me because if things arrive to me broken or even in less than perfect condition it’s such a pain to send them back and wait for a replacement. I’m glad to know that Brando Workshop understands this and protects the items I order.

Once I removed the Power Jacket from the case I noticed that it is made of a hard ruggedized material that will not only help me with those times that I may need some extra juice for my battery but it would also provide my BlackBerry Q10 with some protection when I may be clumsy with it. In fact placing my device into the Power Jacket was so easy, all I had to do was slide the Q10’s battery port onto the cases power source and I was ready to start using the external charger.

Now that the Power Jacket is in place whenever I need some extra battery all that I have to do is push the on/off button that’s on the back of the case. Also on the back, right beside the on/off button there are four blue LED indicator lights that represent the battery level for the Power Jacket. The four lights each represent 25% battery left, so one light means there’s 25% bettery left, two lights means 50% left, three lights 75%, and all four means it’s fully  charged.

The Power Jacket for the BlackBerry Q10 also has a cutout on the back for the camera and all the media buttons as well as the lock button on top are easily accessible.

With that said I do have an issue I want to bring to your attention. It seems that when they were trying to make it easy to use the media keys they didn’t notice that the right side of the Power Jacket is not to secure on the Q10, so if I hold the device upside down the Power Jacket will slide away from the Q10 (don’t worry though the left side keeps the Power Jacket on the Q10). I kinda wish they would have made this side a little more secure on the device but it’s not a major issue, as the main reason I have it for is the external battery abilities.
