Review: Incipio DualPro Case For The BlackBerry Z10

For the last week, I have been sporting this sharp looking case from Incipio, the DualPro in neon yellow and gray. I have to say that this little case has caused a bit of a stir among my family and friends! Considering I have 7 BlackBerry Z10 cases (to date) I am going into this review with a lot of knowledge about what I like and don’t like, need and don’t need, in a case. So, let’s get started.

First things first, the case is a two part case featuring a hard shell Plextonium outer and a silicone soft inner. The silicone covers the whole device to include the edges and corners. The hard shell is then pushed onto the inner and seated into the grooves in the silicone shell. There are openings for the charging and HDMI ports, and for the 3.5mm jack as well as for the camera. The volume buttons are smooth and ever so slightly raised, and work perfectly when the case is on the device. Inside the box also comes a microfiber cloth and screen protector.

So what about its performance? Like I said initially, this case caused quite a stir. My son, who is 7, loved the color! My supervisor at work was very impressed with the double protection and the lightness of the case. While I have the neon yellow/gray version, Incipio has other colors to choose from; gray/gray, black/black, and neon pink/black. At a price of $29.99 I feel the case is well worth it. Check out Amazon.com as well as I have seen the price range from $15 up to the $29.99. Either way you will not be disappointed in purchasing this case.

Again, I have had this case on my Z10 for about a week. One of my main requirements in a case is that it has a holster. There are few holster cases currently available, but Incipio has one of them and it is the OVRMLD (reviewed here on BlackBerryEmpire.com). I also have the OVRMLD case and was curious; would the DualPro work with this holster?

YES! The DualPro will work with the OVRMLD holster and feels the same. It is a tight fit and at times a bit of a struggle to slide the device up from out of the holster. However, the holster clearly secures the device and serves its purpose to have your device accessible without having to dig through a pocket or just outright holding your device and taking the risk of dropping it. But then, that is why we have a case on our devices, right? To protect from our eventual mishaps!

The DualPro does well in protecting the Z10. The silicone cover is absorbing of impact and the hard outer shell is strong and lightweight. When the device is face down the edging of this case keeps the display off the surface and minimizes the opportunities for scratching. On the whole the outer shell stayed seated on the silicone case. I did at times have to re-seat the outer shell after taking my device from my vehicle mount, but I credit that to the vehicle mount grips more than a flaw in the DualPro case itself.

When plugging in my headphones at the gym, I did have to make sure to push in the jack to ensure it was secure, but once in there were no issues of loosening or anything like that. The volume buttons were easy to find with the minimal raise to them, and manipulating the the buttons worked perfectly fine.

Overall, this is an exceptional case for your Z10. It is light, unobtrusive and does as advertised. The added bonus of being able to use the DualPro in the OVRMLD holster wiped away the only real negative I had going into using this case. If you are still looking for a great case for your Z10, or have an obsession like I do to try out every accessory (I will be switching to the Incipio feather ultra thin snap-on case next), then head over to Incipio or Amazon.com and grab one today; and keep checking back for all the latest in BlackBerry!
