No, it’s NOT a Mirage-They Are BlackBerry Themes From Yuki So Break Out of Your Trance

Yuki has recently released two new theme for your BlackBerry phone; Mirage and Trance; and they are both magical. The first we will look at is Trance. The theme features lots of shortcuts and tons of features which you can hide from your home screen.

This is a wallpaper-loving theme! The large clock in the bottom corner can be turned on and off with Alt ?/! and the am/pm can be turned on and off as well with Alt d/f. If you want to see your 5 icon dock, hit z. I love a short, efficient dock. 5 icons seems to be just right for me. Hit ESC to make the dock disappear.

Trance has other tricks that will leave you dumbfounded. You can turn on and off the network with Alt w/e; and the date as well with Alt r/s. I love the date on the side vertically. Functional but stylish. Many themes have been using this configuration lately. At the bottom of the screen, the banner can be turned from black to transparent with Alt #. That key press brings up a small control panel that allows three changes to the opacity of the bottom banner AND allow you to move your OCD slot to two different positions.

In the screen shot above, I have moved the OCD slot; here BerryWeather (app sold separately) to the lower corner. A nice touch especially when you very often configure the weather AFTER you choose just the right wallpaper for the day! One more thing you can do with the banner, Alt t/y makes it a shiny banner or a flat color one.

Trance app screen

The app screen of Trance is dark grey and I love the cubes for each icon as I think it makes it so easy to tell where you are on the screen.  The menus and message areas have user customizable fonts, so no more squinting at tiny fonts. The typical hotkeys exist as well; 0=profiles, $= SMS and x=pictures. This theme is for OS6 only right now but OS5 is coming!!!

Another great theme by Yuki that allows tons of customization is Mirage. It is a blank theme with no dock on the home screen but it allows you to customize many of the home screen features as well as changing colors. Here’s a screen shot to start with:

Mirage with user wallpaper

The thing I love about Mirage is the color changing bar that separates the two banners at the top. To change the colors, use Alt #/*. There are a dozen colors to match your wallpapers. Also, when you bring up that control panel, you will have the option to move the OCD slot around to the four corners of the screen!

Another neat presto-changeo thing you can do is with the clock. The clock can go from the side to the bottom middle position AND it can be either black fonts or white. That’s four different clocks! And notifications are also hide-able with  ?/!. Hide the OCD slot with +/-. And don’t forget the usual hotkeys of 0=profiles, $= SMS and x=pics.

The colored bar adds just enough flair to your wallpaper and the weather slot can be moved to it’s most unobtrusive position, or hidden altogether. I love these two themes because you can customize them the way you like. You can highlight your wallpaper or go for the information on your home screen. Choose one of these themes for a dock and another without. Better yet, take both themes as they each offer different choices!!!
