FaceFlow for BlackBerry 10 To Become A Paid App – BlackBerry Help Your Devs More! @BlackBerryDev

Earlier today the developer of FaceFlow contacted us to let us know about the pricing on his app, in the past it was free in BlackBerry World but unfortunately that has gone away. Just so you know the new price is $1.99 which still makes the app well worth the money.

Now I’m sure some of you will say, the app was free before so why start charging for it now? Well I have included the reason why this price increase is happening. To me, it’s great that the FaceFlow developer reached out to us explaining this. Some developers would just change the price and never explain why, but Dany Pelletier the Founder of FaceFlow wants to be upfront with his customers. Here’s what Dany had to say:

I’d have a news to share about FaceFlow. We’ve just made the app $1.99 today. The reason for this is because that would be the only way for us to truly offer the best quality possible on the BB10. Even Skype is not really good and has worse reviews that us, so we really want to offer something great to BB10 users, and we couldn’t do it without financial support.

BB10 users can expect more frequent updates and quality improvements to FaceFlow, as well as perhaps a Playbook app in the near future.

Thanks
Dany Pelletier
Founder, FaceFlow

For those of you that haven’t heard of FaceFlow before here’s the app description from BlackBerry World.

FaceFlow allows you to communicate with your friends, family, and colleagues in a very simple and efficient way. Here’s what you can do with your FaceFlow friends: – Send instant messages – Call them (voice call) – Video chat, with up to 3 of your friends at the same time! FaceFlow is also currently available on the Web, at http://www.FaceFlow.com – there are nearly half a million members on the website. If your friends don’t have a Blackberry 10 device, you can still video chat with them, all they need to do is to create an account and login to the website! In our efforts to become the most convenient video chat platform, we are also going to release FaceFlow on other platforms as well – to make sure you can communicate with your friends, regardless of the platform they are using.

As of right now the FaceFlow app is available for the BlackBerry Z10 with an update already submitted for support to the BlackBerry Q10 and Q5 which should be approved very soon. Dany also let us know that they are really committed to providing a quality video chat service for BlackBerry 10 and what their plans are for future updates.

Improvements and additions we should expect:

  • Making the app really cross-platform (Playbook, iOS, Android apps, so there’s no limit with whom you can video chat)
  • A / V Quality improvements
  • New features, such as better ways to connect with your contacts

To check out FaceFlow for yourself just head on over to BlackBerry World and download it now.
